Philafleur Design

First of all, thank you for stopping by and visiting my website!

Philafleur Design is a freelance web design service provided by S.C. Dreitlein. ··· Learn more about the designer.

I believe in a holistic approach to web design, specifically for the small business owner. This includes full integration of your brand, or business personality, into your web presence. I believe the internet is a great equalizer among businesses. With imaginative and thoughtful web design, your small business can give the same impression as a big company.

I can create a website based on a new idea and your existing website or start from scratch. Even if all you have is a pen drawing on a cocktail napkin, I can design a website from it. Working with a designer on a one-on-one basis means you have the greatest flexibility.

What I don't do is use a one-size-fits-all template and inflate your website with extras that distract from your message.

I follow accepted web standards to ensure your site:

  • is easy for your intended customer or client to understand and identify with,
  • is easy for your visitors to use and navigate through,
  • is attractive to search engines by using SEO best practices and integrated content and coding, and
  • has clean, programmer ready code that is easy to update and maintain.

Additionally, I work hard to stay within your budget confines. No one likes to be talked into something more expensive than they need. My pricing structure allows for maximum flexibility when implementing an update to your existing site or creating an entirely new site.

About The Designer

I've been happily designing websites since 2000. My studio is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

What is a web designer?

Web designers are usually people with art backgrounds. They are very good at conveying messages with both images and words. They're also very organized. A good web designer will put your vision above any personal ideas they have about your website.

Why am I a good web designer?

Having worked for a business research firm, I had the opportunity to learn valuable branding strategies. I can help you analyze your brand and translate your message into a website that conveys your company's purpose most effectively.

I'm proficient in organizing hopeless amounts of information so it makes sense to those you most want to reach out to. Using user experience profiling, I design with a sensitivity to the visitor experience and can design a site that visitors find pleasing.

I strive to provide a professional experience by practicing project development techniques that I've learned in a corporate environment.

How did I become a web designer?

My professional journey began at CUNY Queens College, located in New York City, where I earned a B.A. in English. I also took courses in art history, architecture, accounting and economics because, at the time, I couldn't really find a career both creative and organizationally inclined.

During my senior year, I worked at a community newspaper where I wrote articles and laid out copy and photography which turned out to be great preparation for designing websites.

After several random positions, I landed at The Conference Board. I was their in-house web designer from 2000 to 2007. My responsibilities included full project design: conception and execution. I regularly worked with other departments coordinating my company's virtual face to the world. In 2007, I moved to Philadelphia, where I now work as the Web Master for a mid-sized law firm.

Looking to expand my creative abilities, I began freelancing in 2001 and I have enjoyed many projects and maintained ongoing relationships with several of my clients.
